You can earn money on Second Life, but how? This really isn't an easy question to answer because there are a lot of ways that you could do this, you will need a plan and a pretty good grasp of this virtual community before you even begin to imagine how to earn through the second life platform.

First form a plan of what you intend to do in SL, there are a few options that I've listed above that you could do to earn your first linden (Second Life Currency). More then likely becoming a content creator such as building or making your own clothing in Second Life will have more success then affiliate vendors that you put up, people want unique and quality content for not a lot of lindens.

If you can make items at a fair price you will begin to grow your business, word of mouth travels quite fast. You also want to advertise both in blogs, social networks and other areas if possible and also post your content on marketplace where people can buy your items off of there as well besides your store in world. It is always good to leave a landmark or slurl in a location spot of your products on the marketplace website that leads to your store so you get more business, a lot of people also like seeing the items in world before buying products.

Affiliate Business in Second Life could potentially do very well, you will need to consider some key factors though. Do you have time to advertise it, the money for ads in classifieds and to show in search on your land? Make sure that you have a budget good enough for doing those steps that way you'll get traffic and eventually sales, tell your friends about your new store you are trying out and they will tell their friends and so on, create picks in your profile that lead to your place with the affiliate and make sure your profile is shown in search on Second Life.

Blogging is another  big thing in Second Life, Business will pay you in order to advertise on your blog IF it is popular and you keep it up to date. Some good blogs that do well in second life are fashion blogs and blogs about modeling and photo taking, keep the content fresh and unique. Now you have some basics in place to begin earning lindens, with those lindens you can sell them on lindex which is the linden exchange platform and once the lindens are sold you can process it to your PayPal account, this process takes about 0-5 business days depending on how busy they are over there at Linden Labs, often it does take about 5 days because there are so many people who are buying and selling Lindens now that they took out the third party linden exchanges.

after those five days you'll have money in your PayPal and if you have a debit/Master Card from them you can spend that real cash at the store :)
